YES WE CAN Volunteer Challenge February – April 2009

Brooklyn Green Team & GreenEdge Collaborative NYC Present We all have a gift. Some can sing and dance; others can garden like a gnome, rake leaves faster than Paul Bunyan can chop down trees, or even recycle with their eyes closed! There are vast and varied opportunities to let loose your talents for the planet. Commit to volunteering at least three hours in the next three months. We know you can do it. Oh, and we’ll email you lots of volunteer opportunities.

3 HOURS. THREE MONTHS.
• Plant a tree (or a million with milliontreesnyc.org)

• Mulch or garden at your nearest park

• Staff events of green organizations

• Clean up a beach

• Pick up garbage on your street or someone else’s

• Conduct a bird count

• Teach people how to recycle

“…Given the crisis we're in and the hardships so many people are going through, we can't allow any idle hands. Everybody's going to have to be involved. Everybody's going to have to pitch in."
-President Barack Obama

I sent the mug challenge out to the staff to my school and one person told me she started to bring her own mug because of the message... This is cool work you are doing. Ask me about the Zero Waste Conference in Albany, NY I attended on Sat, Nov 15... it was amazing!

I like my coffee with sitting in the shop - it doesn't travel with me. But my Sigg brings tea (though uninsulated aluminum? Not a good idea.)

I'm in! I love my mugs from my favorite coffee house in my hometown. It reminds me of my family.
