About Us

Over 100 cohousing communities have been built around the country and we are using proven development models. See What is cohousing and the 6 defining characteristics of cohousing on the national cohousing website.

Project Status: The group has been meeting weekly for 18 months, and we are incorporated, have hired cohousing consultant and project manager Chris ScottHanson, and as of October 2008 have a fantastic site. We are on track for moving in by spring of 2010. We seek to have a diverse community and welcome people of all ages, races, religions, and family types who share our vision and want to be part of this cohousing community.

Special Event - Tuesday May 19th 6-8pm. The public is invited to a presentation and discussion with our building professionals on "Passive House" green building techniques. Our professionals’ research to date suggests that we could reduce heating and air conditioning costs by up to 90 percent and overall energy costs by up to 70 percent. We are doing extensive due diligence and there are many questions that must be answered before making such a decision. This presentation and discussion is going to focus on the challenges, unknowns and opportunities of doing this in NYC.
Where: Belarusan Church, 401 Atlantic Avenue (cnr of Bond St., Brookyln)
When: 6-8pm Tuesday May 19th
followed by socializing and an optional orientation for those interested in learnign more about our group. (8-9pm)

An oasis of community in the big city
We welcome diverse people of all ages, races, cultures, religions and family types to our community.

Our vision is to create an oasis of community amid the swirling intensity of New York City, and an antidote to the isolation and impersonality of contemporary life. This will be a family-friendly, multi-generational community that is open to all ages, races, religions and family types, and will provide for the needs of children as well as adults.
