The Science & Consequences of Ocean Acidification, from the Pew Climate Center, outlines how carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels are absorbed by oceans, which produces carbonic acid and makes seawater corrosive to some minerals. Examines the threat to fisheries, marine ecosystems, and the global food supply. (Download pdf here)

We just screened A Sea Change under the auspices of Green Edge at the Solar-Powered Film Festival. What a cool venue! Screening right by the East River. Which incidently is salt! A highlight of the evening for me was definitely Bärbel Hönisch, a scientist who can speak lucidly about climate change and ocean acidification to the general public.

After screenings of the film on the West Coast and in Europe and Australia, it was great to have it seen in New York finally. Twice in one week! (First was NYC premiere at the Museum of Natural History, with another great partner, Oceana.)
